My journey as a sādhaka has had several pivotal moments. Some came through my own choices, while others were inevitable occurrences that challenged my limits and beliefs. These experiences opened my eyes to the unseen, ever-changing yet ever-constant reality, and they continue to teach me every moment.
Growing up, I learned to meditate and practised, but admittedly, I was unaware of how powerful this small little ritual was. As life grew more complicated with age, this practice was left in a dusty corner of my mind, a long-forgotten memory.
In my early twenties, through some tough seasons, the universe forced me to take a good, hard look at my life and ask some deep questions about who I really am:
- What is my purpose?
- What is life?
- What is reality?
These questions, and the mental hardships I faced at the time, led me back to reflect on myself and my inner life, so that I could heal myself. This led me to experiment with different meditation techniques in order to rediscover the connection with myself. At first, these experiences were led by external means and methods, but I realised, slowly and quickly at the same time, that I needed to cultivate an experience within. There are experiences that can be cultivated without any external object, and this is what fascinated me: the power of the mind.
I soon began meditating again, just as I used to as a child. I reached a point where I yearned for a teacher, and my quest to understand myself better led me to Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama in Rishikesh, where I joined the Gurukulam, a residential programme of study and practice. As a Gurukulam student, my days ran from 5 am to 10 pm while I immersed myself in spiritual practices and sādhanā, and finally started to scratch the surface of what exists.
I learned that the simplest practices give the deepest results. Today my work is to share them, and to help people go within themselves, so that anyone can transform their inner world the way I did.
I believe society has evolved outwardly for generations, and is reaching a point where we must also go within, so that humanity may evolve inwardly as well.
